It's only been... okay, I don't want to think how long.

We are preparing to take the beta update page and the beta inbox out of beta with the next code release. We don't have an exact date yet, but this is your last chance to tell us about problems!

To enable the beta versions: go to Beta Features and enable the "new Create Entries" beta test for the new update page and the "New Inbox Page" for the, well, new inbox page.

If this is your first time using the beta update page: nearly everything on it can be adjusted, moved, or removed to some degree. The upper right side of the update form has a " ⚙️ Rearrange Panels" link.

Not every panel is enabled by default! If you don't see something you're used to finding, look in the disabled panels. While in Rearrange mode, you can enable or disable panels, drag them to whatever position you want, and generally customize it to your heart's content.

Once we push the button and switch to the new update and inbox pages for everyone, we cannot keep the old ones available. We are so close to finishing the decade-long "get rid of the undocumented custom templating language from 1996 that no one else uses" modernization project that's been sapping our collective will to live that we can taste it, and we can't convert the old update page and the updated inbox page is the converted version. This is your last chance to alert us of problems. If you let us know after the switch goes live, we'll still fix it, but we can't guarantee how fast. Prevent future problems and test drive them now!

Light is on for: You.

What's in the Bowl?

Fic - 500 words or less (sometimes more if the spirit strikes) for fandoms I've written before (thesunsaid on AO3)
Fanmixes for the fandom of your choice 5-10 tracks in a playlist on YT
Music recs - songs/artists
Horror movie & book recs for spooky season
Cute animal pictures - I have three dogs and three cats and adore sharing them

Let Me Know:

For fics - fandom and characters of your choice, helpful to include your level of appropriate spice if you want / fic & DNWs
For fanmixes - give the me the fandom and the vibe you're looking for, music genre of choice if you have one
Music recs - genre of choice or artists you like, or if you're looking something completely new/different
For Movie/Book recs - give me your level of horror tolerance, if you have a fav already that's a helpful starting point

Other info:

For fics - Dragon Age is your best fandom rec for a quick turn around. I will not write Solas or Anders centered fic. If I haven't written it before but you think i might know it/be willing, feel free to ask.
For fanmixes & Music recs - you can check my "New Music Friday" tags for an idea on how wide my music tastes span (there's not a lot of genres I don't listen to)
For Horror recs - I watch a LOT of horror movies, and they span from bad on purpose to extreme, gory to psychological, there's range
I will turn off my light if I get overwhelmed, but I will do my best to get things together in the week they're requested - by Halloween at the absolute latest

This has been a difficult week, friends. But I do still come bearing new music, just a little later than usual.

First up is a song from Blacktop Mojo, "Time the Killer". There's nothing special about the video, it's the band jamming out and having a good time, but I really like these guys. They've got a y'alternative, post-grunge rock type style and if you're a rock fan who doesn't mind a little country twang in your rock, check these guys out.

Another new Starset song, this time it's "transfus10n". I've learned recently that Sahaj, who was the lead singer of one of my favorite early 00s rock bands, Ra, is the producer on a lot of the new Starset stuff and that's so cool. Love these guys, love Sahaj's work, it's a good mix.

Lastly is Noah Kahan's new song "Draw You Out" for the Sunrise on the Reaping Hunger Games movie. Nothing super special about the video, just a lyrics visualizer, but man, I'm a fan of Noah and this song is really good.

Honorable Mentions:
Spaemann & Bakanic - Little One - picky cello & sweet accordian playing. Reminds me a little of like an old Imogen Heap or Birdie kind of song.
Nothing But Thieves - Death in the Backseat - finally a new album from these guys. I'm still digesting it, but this is my fav song on it so far
dodie - Still I Stare... and Compare - cute and plucky little song until it absolutely rages in the middle, in a way that gives me a very Beatles feel
Tessa Violet - Love You More (October's Song) - what a cute little video with Tessa's mom
Remi Wolf - I Won't Cry - just a lovely little soulful ballad with a bit of a country twang

Hi all,

I had to push some code live today to fix something, and that brought with it a couple of new things like if you have two-factor authentication (2FA/MFA) enabled, you got automatically logged out and it is now required to log in. If you don't, you can set it up if you want (you don't have to.)

This also means that if you have 2FA enabled, you will not be able to use 3P clients using your username and password anymore. You should be able to use API keys in most cases, but there's some nuance to that (and tbh, I just am not precisely sure what clients anybody even uses.)

Please do comment if you're seeing anything weird, as per usual, and we'll work on it. Thank you!
